The light seeped through the windows signalling the start of the new day and the start of his shift. He knew it had been a quiet night as he stopped to chat with the night shift on his way in. A good shift when there was little to do apart from catch up with the general working’s of the office. Forms littered his desk like empty sweetie wrappers, and a fresh coffee cup added to the abomination that was paperwork and files. With in half an hour it appeared that other night shift agents had cleared out, most likely going to sleep through the day before another shift although arriving early was his thing he did like to get a good start on the day. He usually saw out the night shift before even attempting to make a move with work and then saw them back before he left. After all he had no ties to home, no pets to look after, no family to tend to and so the majority of his time was spent at work.
Just like now, he was drowning in an ever rising pile of papers that seemed to multiply the faster he signed things, wrote up reports and cleared the desk. His mind wondered towards coffee, reaching for the cup he gazed into it. Still full though he doubted the half hour would pass before he held another full cup in his hand. Benjamin gave a quick look around the office before turning his computer on. His hands made quick work of shuffling the papers, throwing out an old coffee cup he had left from the prevous day making way for the fresher ones later. He sat back swinging his feet up onto the desk, listening to the general musings of the office, awaiting the hustle that the morning brought.

Kai walked into the bullpen, growling at somone on the other side of the phone, who was not understanding her on bit and was being very rude to her. Kai glared at her cellphone, and then she said rudly good bye and hang up the person and kept walking to her desk as she growled loudly. Kai then realized she was not the only one in te bullpen and Kai turned around quickly and then blushed slightly and then said.
“I d-didn’t s-see you h-here, Benjamin, didn’t work night shift?”
Kai looked around and then walked over to Benjamin as she move her hips to right to left. Once she got over to his desk, she bent her body over his desk, placeing her arms on the desk. Kai then turned her head slightly and looking at him. Kai smiled and then said.
“Sooooo, what are you doing.”
Yes, Kai was being nosy, including when it comes to Benjamin. Kai picked up some papers that Benjamin was working on, she then placed them back down where she found them. Kai frowned once she realized that Benjamin’s desk was covered in papers. Kai then raised an eyebrow and then said.
“You really need to get a move on, on the papers….”
She didn’t want to be bossy, Kai had been known to have everything clean and neat. Kai then noticed Benjamin going through his desk and saw the day old coffee cup. Kai made a face, and then noise and then Benjamin threw it away. Benjamin swinging his feet onto the his desk. Kai then get an evil idea and started running her fingers across his leg with a evil grin on her face.

Benjamin’s attention was caught by Kai and her phone call, it sounded less than a pleasant one though he thought he would keep his eyes glued to his desk. There was no use getting involved with something that he had no idea about, though he found the fact she was obviously disgruntled by the person on the other end of the phone he found himself wondering just who she was speaking to. Benjamin smiled as Kai noticed him, ”Oh I didn't work night shift, I just got here early to start things.”
He smiled as he tried not to stare at the way her hips moved as she walked, so not professional he thought to himself as he gulped a little. ”I’m just slowly getting started, thought that I could get some of my work done before a case came in or something but it looks quiet today.” He said remembering that the night shift hadn’t collected a new case, generally that was a good thing although he wasn’t sure if they would get a case or not as he hoped for a crime free day or crime free for the Navy that was. He watched as she picked up some of the papers, it was nothing overly interesting just a few things that needed signatures and case reports he had to write up, both things he wasn’t too keen on doing.
”I am... I am but hey it’s not my fault that I get distracted, plus if there’s a new case the paper work has to wait right?” He said laughing as he saw her face at the coffee cup. So maybe he wasn’t the tidiest person around the office but he knew where everything was. He raised his brow at her as he felt her run her fingers across his leg, ”Isnt that classed as red light behaviour?” He asked grinning, ”So what had you so... railed up this morning?” He asked curiosity getting the better of him.

Kai listened to Benjamin as he spoke, Kai smiled and then said.
“Why are you here so early, bossman doesn’t come in until a little bit later…..”
Kai blinked as she smiled, she had notice him gulp, good she had an effect on him. Kai listened to him again as he spoke again. Kai turned her head to the window seeing the rain drops hit the window of the NCIS building. Kai blinked her eyes and then turned her head back to Benjamin. Kai then said.
“Yes feels like it’s going to be a quiet day today, guess it’s a good thing though right?”
Kai laughed lightly and then said,
“True, paperwork have to wait until the case solved. As for you getting distracted …”
Kai slowly stood up and moved closer to Benjamin and then stared at Benjamin and then said.
“So what is distracting you now? Me or other things?”
Kai slowly moved her hand to Benjamin’s arm, smiled as she did, it was so fun messing with him. Kai then finally moved to Benjamin’s hair, darn he’s hair was hot. Kai then ran her hand through his hair, liking feel of his hair through her hands and she then heard his question and then she said.
“Would you considered it classifed as a red light behavior?”
Kai then moved her hands to his shoulders as he asked her got her railed up this morning. Kai si hed and then said.
“My little brother, Ben , punched another student who was bullieing and hitting on our little sister Marie who is also Ben’s twin sister. The person who I was talking to was being very rude. Ever since we have moved down here, the both of them have changed, I do not know if it’s due to the death of our parents or just moving down here has caused the change in the both of them.”

He shrugged; he had figured it would give him a head start on the work though just looking at it was thankful for any and all distractions. It wasn’t that he was against doing the work but when other things like cases and well sleeping tended to go before the paperwork it tended to stack up on his desk. He laughed and nodded glancing at the rain, ”Quiet days are the best, at least no one’s killed anyone yet... thats always got to be a good thing for NCIS.” he said grinning.
He sometimes wondered just why people did what they did and sometimes people were surprising but more often than not murder and killing was done for three reason, love, money and pride. It was something he tended to go by but then again sometimes he could be surprised and it might even be totally random. He raised his brow as she moved closer to him, ”Other things... but you really are doing a great job of distracting me Kai” He said smiling.
He sighed as she ran her hand through his hair he liked the feeling of it as he smiled. ”It all depends on the behaviour” He said chuckling, he wasn’t sure why she had been so bothered by who was on the end of the phone although he was hoping she would tell him. He wondered if he could help with whatever was bothering her although it all depended on what it was. “I guess it would just be a lot of change for them both... big change.” He said reassuringly.
“I hope the other student was in trouble for hitting your sister.” He said before thinking of something, “would it help if someone spoke to them? Or at least the kid that was hitting your sister? I mean we are federal agents and who ever was being rude to you about it could always use a good speaking to... if you ask me of course”

Kai nodded slightly as Benjamin laughed and then he said something. Kai tilted her head as she said.
“The only problem about rain is that it can mess up a crime sence.”
Kai grinned as Benjamin as he raised his eyebrow, she heard what he said and then she smiled evily and then said.
“Is that so? Am I really that distracting to you?”
Kai growled softly at his smile, she really loved his smile. The last relationship was in, was with an Marine, the guy was nice and caring, but they were never able to go farther their relatoinship. Kai then snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Benjamin say something again. Kai laughed softly and then moved her hands to his shoulders and started massaging his shoulders. Kai hear Benjamin again, and then said.
“Well, I kinda tried talking to the two of them, Marie didn’t want to listen and Ben, well, he rolled his eye and then said whatever. The woman I talked to, said that the other boy, that Ben hit is going to be in trouble for hitting Marie, the lady I was talking to, said that Marie was pretty bad shape, she even said that Marie was not even talking, which in Marie’s case, is not normal. I guess I could call them back up an talk to them.”
Kai kept on massaging Benjamin’s shoulders, smiling as she did, it felt so right doing this. Kai then thought to herself and then ask.
“So, what are you doing tonight?”

Benjamin winced as she mentioned about the rain and the crime scene. Always the mad scramble if storm clouds were about to get what they could before the rain washed away the chance of catching a killer. The weather hardly ever wanted to work with them or give them a break but then it was something that made the job all the more interesting when there was the rush to get things collected. It was more of a speed and accuracy test one that could go either way when everything had to be done properly and that took time.
“Now that you mention it, you might be” He said chuckling. Benjamin could hardly remember the last relationship he had been in, it was more of a friendship that had turned into something more and then as soon as it had, ceased to exist a few days after that. He was never sure why it had ended to but at least it was amicable, there were no harassing phone calls and as far as he knew there weren’t any bad feels about it. What was there had just gone. He sighed as he felt her hands massaging his shoulders, if only every work day was so good he thought.
“I could cover for you if you wanted to go and see her?” He offered, it was maybe better than a phone call if Marie wasn’t speaking. Then again he did wonder just what the other boy had done to Marie to make her not speak. He grinned as he thought about her question, “Well i’ve got a date” he said pausing for a moment, “With a frozen dinner and a TV set... that’s if there’s no work” He added sure that as soon as anyone were to make plans around there that some case or something would happen to come in for them to work.
It normally went like that although there was always hope for a quiet day and night he thought. “What about you, do you have plans tonight?” He asked her curiously.

Kai heard Benjamin wince, and she understood why. It is a really bad mess when it’s raining and with a crime scene, bad combo. Kai let out a sigh just thinking about it. Kai was brought back to the world of the living, when Benjamin started talking again. Kai then grinned and then said.
“Good, let us keep it that way.”
Kai then turned her head to her boss’s desk and sees an old cold case file, that looked to be reopened recently. Kai tilted her head has she walked over to her boss’s desk and picked up the old cold case file and opened it up, her eyes wide when she saw the who the person that was killed…
It… It.. it was the old woman from her fainted memory. Kai eyes then looked at the name of the person.
Angel Kai Jones
Kai stared at the image of this… woman or teenager, she looked like a teenager. and she looked just like her, but her eyes were a different shape.
Kai then heard Benjamin again and then she said.
“No, My Aunt Eliz has gone to get Marie and Ben and take them home for today. They need a break from school for a day or so…”
Kai smiled as Benjamin spoke again and started laughing softly at Benjamin and then said.
“Hahaha! Well seeing how my siblings are now staying with aunt, I’m not going to be doing, part of now trying to find out who this person is in the old cold case file. She… She… She looks like me, it’s really creepy and whats even more creepy she was killed a few days after I was born…”
Kai raised in eyebrow at the file and rubbed her head, was she missing something or is there something that no one has yet to tell her?

Benjamin grinned as he watched Kai, and old case file or another training case he wondered although he had known a few of the colder cases suddenly have a tip or just a general insight into them that a few years ago wasn’t there but then he hadn’t thought much to the case file as Boss wasn’t there yet and he was sure that he would explain it all when he got to work.
“Yeah a break would be good for them with all that’s gone on they could probably take a week off” He said wondering how another kid could make someone’s life a misery for no apparent reason. He nodded well it would be a good thing to know a little about the case he thought but then where did they start without much of a starting point however as he listened he wasn’t too sure what to make of it.
“I’m sure its jus t a coincidence Kai... sometimes when bad things happen you can relate to the victim.” He said as he moved from behind his desk, “Maybe we could run age, height, hair colour and things through the DVLA? That should give us a starting point besides then we can just look at the hits and compare the picture and see which one to get a name?” He knew it was a long shot and there would probably be quite a few matches but then again it was better than nothing he thought.
“Are you going to be okay working on it? I mean if this woman reminds you of you... and it might not be anything that she was killed a few days after you were born... coincidence” He said trying to sound convinced of it though two at the same time was a long shot even for NCIS he thought.

Kai listened to Benjamin as he spoke to her, stared at the picture of the teenager. Kai tilted her head slightly, taking in the information she was looking at, the cold case. Kai opened the file up, and started looking in the file. Her eyes wide in and she then said softly.
“My God, she gave birth to twins,one boy, and one girl….”
Kai kepted on reading the case file to herself when Benjamin spoke again. Kai looked up from the case file and then said.
“Yes, Marie has been getting bullied more and more lately. Ben told me some of the students have told him, they see her talking to herself, and it freaks them out. Ben tried talking to her, but she tells him she doesn’t know what he is talking about. But you are right about that, they need a break from school; I’m hoping that things cool down at their school. Hope Ri doesn’t miss them too much.”
Kai sighed, she didn’t even know if Marie or Ben hang out with River durring school hours, maybe he sees them, but then again, maybe not. Kai then heard Benjamin speak again. Kai sighed and then spoke once.
“Her name is Angel Kai Jones, She was in her late teenages with she was killed. She had given birth to twins a few days before she dead. Her hair was reddish brown and her eyes were light blue. …. that’s all that is listed when the basic information. The babies where never find, she could have put them up for adoptoin. No teenager is able to take care of one baby, let alone two of them….. hmmmm…”
Kai started to think to herself, as she rubbed her chin. Kai then placed the case file back on her boss’s desk and then went to her computer and typed in the name of the teenager in the system and get a hit. Kai raised an eyebrow and then said.
“Well, this is not good. She dated one of our current agents, Timothy McGee… Bossman is not going to be happy about this. Looks like there are only one of the twins in the system. It’s the boy. The boy’s name is Timothy “Katsuro” McGee Jr. Oh boy, Bossman is going to have a cow with he sees this.. and as for your question, Yes, I’ll be fine.”
Kai then brought up the picture of Angel Kai Jones on the tv screen in the bullpen and then said.
“See what I mean?”

Benjamin could see that Kai was enthralled in what she was reading although he couldnt quite make the connections that it was obvious Kai was. Maybe she had more of an insight he thought for a moment although it was one thing to identify with a victim but another to go down the route he had an idea of although he wasnt too sure if it was even possible. “I’m sure it will all work out, Ben and Marie are smart kids plus they have you to look after them too.” He said smiling.
He didn't know what to say about Marie talking to herself, he assumed it must be a kind of coping mechanism. Some had imaginary friends and some people talked things through out loud, he sometimes did similar things although he wasnt quite sure if it was the same or if there was something else to it entirely. “True but then the father might have taken them... or a family member, aunt, uncle, cousin.” He suggested, “Anythings possible, two children don’t just disappear there has to be some kind of trace of them somewhere around.”
Benjamin tried not to gawp as the name McGee came up although boss man was the least of their worries, he thought what if McGee found out or what if he didn't go straight with them. Did he even know he was a father or even was he a father it was easy to put a name to a face but DNA or fingerprints that was a definitive match. He could see just why the case was on the boss’s desk after all, maybe they were just figuring out what he had done earlier.
Benjamin glanced at the photo and then at Kai and back again. There were similarities but then differences too however it was difficult to shy away from the same red hair and blue eyes. “It might just be a coincidence... don’t get worked up over it” He said softly, “There are differences you know... you are not entirely similar Kai” He said trying to work out if his eyes were seeing things or not.

Kai stared at the picture of the boy of Timothy McGee Jr., he looked like a look alike of Agent McGee. Kai printed the photo of Timothy McGee Jr. Once it was printed out, Kai picked it up as Benjamin spoke and then she said.
“True True…”
Kai looked at photo in wonder and in awe. Kai the light brush her hand agianst photo, Kai then tilted her head to the side. Kai then looked up from the photo of Timothy McGee Jr., as Benjamin started talking again. Kai then said as she ran her hand through her hair.
“We found the boy in the database, but no hits on the girl. But another weird thing is that Timothy McGee Jr. just recently show up in the database. It says he was born here, but nothing on his childhood, nothing, up to a few months ago. hmm….”
Kai then looked into who was with Timothy Jr. when they got off of the plane, Kai’s eyes went wide at what she find next.
“How…How… Is that even possible, how the HELL did he get into Japan!!?”
Great, just Great, next she is going to have to find what name he was under in the Japan database! Kai then saw two names that were Japanese who were with on the plane.

Kai mouth went wide open, Timothy McGee Jr. was adopted by a couple in Japan. Kai then put it up on the TV. Kai then looked at Benjamin, and then said.
“Son of a gun, he has been in Japan all his life, wow, who would have thought of that.”
Kai then heard Benjamin again, and then she narrowed her eyes and then said.
“I really do not believe in coincidences… and me and her look 99% the same. Watch I’m going to do this.”
Kai copied the photo of Angel Kai Jones and herself and placed home in the same program that is used to found out similarities to one person to another. Kai then started the process of scanning the faces and then it readed the answers.
99% MATCH!
Kai’s eyes wide in shock. This could not be happening.
“uhhh….well, that’s interesting”

Benjamin watched and listened to Kai, there was a definite possibility to what she was saying and then the 99% photo match. There was only so much he could put down to a coincidence and the evidence was stacking up in the favour of a connection. Hell it was more than just a simple connection, the boy had been in Japan which wasn’t so strange but then having a life in Japan so far away with little to no explanation to what was going on he found it difficult to believe it was just a random stack of events. “Do you have any connections to Japan” He asked Kai trying to make sense of things for himself, “Family history, long lost relatives and so on.” It was a long shot but worth a try. Some times things were a hit and other times it was the biggest miss anyone could have hoped for he thought as he stared at the match on the screen. “The computer tells the truth, you both do look very similar Kai.” It was about all he could say as he was completely stunned, “Do you think we should tell boss… or McGee about this? It could still be a spooky random thing…they do say we all have a double out there somewhere.” So maybe he wasn’t being as helpful as he could have been but then he wasn’t even sure what to say about it all. The evidence was over whelming and although he was trying to make sense of it all he could hardly find the answer to what he was thinking let alone what was going on with the case and the possible connection to Kai, “Do you want to get a coffee or something and talk about this?” He suggested unsure of what to do next. (Sorry its an awful reply from me, they will get better  ) |

Kai just stared at the screen in pure shock. Had she been living a lie her eighteen year old life? She really adopted? Kai then remembered something that her parents given to her after she was eighteen birthday, but had refused to opened the old beat up wooden box. She even brought it in with her to work. Kai then looked Benjamin and then said.
“No and No, My father would always go to Japan every five years with mother, saying they knew some friends down there. I also have a friend of mine who is down in Japan right now, as we speak, for college. But other then that, no.”
Kai then went back to thinking about the old beat up wooden box her parents were planning on giving her on eighteen birthday. Kai then heard Benjamin saying something about telling bossman or McGee and then she looked up and then said after he was done talking.
“HECK to the NO! We are not telling bossman or McGee about this, and I do not even know how McGee would reaction if one of his kids is NCIS agent, along with his son who is somewhere, someplace in the states. Heck, I do not even think he knows if Angel Kai Jones is dead…. I‘m starting to think this is some nightmure…”
Kai then went under her desk, and pulled out a old beat up wooden box, and sighed, here goes nothing. Kai opened the box slowly, then opened it up completely and started to cough as dust went into the air. Kai then waved her hands in the air to get the dust out of her face and then hear something, a voice coming from the wooden box.
“My little Kai, my baby girl. This is mom, Angel, I know, you are wondering why are now getting this, after living with adopted family, that you thought was your real family. But it’s not true, I was forced to give you and your brother up, due to your grandfather, who said he disown me, as his child. The only way he would not disown me, was that I killed both you and your brother in the womb or if I put you both up for adoption. Your Grandfather, also wanted me to have no connects with your birth father, Timothy McGee, I’m so sorry this had to happen this way. I wanted so badly to keep you and your brother. Your father doen’t know of you or your brother. Your brother will be getting some thing like this, this wooden box. I have idems that belong to me and your father. There are some pictures of me and your father, and some other things I think you may like. Never think I didn’t love you, sweet, you are one of my children, I love you no matter what happens. The Armstrong family will take care of you and love you so much. I have a picture of me, you and brother Timothy McGee JR.

Kai gasped and looked at Benjamin in horror, this must be a dream, it must be! Kai then said as she started to shake a little…
“I-I t-think t-that a-answer o-our q-questions… Let us go somewhere after I look at the things in this wooden box.”
Kai then went back to the wooden box and started looking through it.

Benjamin was even sure what to do now as he stared at Kai for a moment, perhaps her father knew more than he had let on he thought wondering if the every five year trip was a way of checking up on the boy without arising suspicion from anyone. It was maybe something to look into but then again where did they even start to put anything together knowing it was to do with Boss, and Kai.
He wondered just where the case would go although with what had been found and seen already, he didn’t have the greatest feeling that the outcome would be all sweetness and light. For one there was already one dead and that was something to solve in itself but when things started relating back to the team, and boss and Kai, it became that much more complicated when trying to work things out.
He tried to smile to put a lighter face on things although he could hardly see the lighter side himself. He always did try to keep things simple and see the silver lining to everything that happened, it was the only way he could do his job on occasion. With the things people did and the things he saw it was truly horrifying to know what people were capable of, although in this case it was hitting closer to home and involving the team,
True maybe telling McGee wouldn’t be the best idea that he had although he wasn’t sure how long the entire fiasco could be kept quiet. It was after all a building filled with cops and agents who were paid investigators, something’s just didn’t fly under the radar as he might hope.
He watched Kai move to take the wooden box from her desk, he wasn’t particularly sure what she was even going to do with it until he heard the voice speaking as she opened it. For a moment he thought that it was someone who had just walked in although with a moments thought he realised just what a silly mistake he had made. He tried to keep his distance and not listen to the words that were being spoke but just like having a glass to a door it was difficult to keep his ears closed for long enough.
Benjamin nodded as he saw her shaking, he was in half a mind to go and hug her although as she started to go through the box he thought it best to take a seat and keep a small distance. “There’s no rush, take your time with it. I‘m here if you need anything.” He said trying to busy himself with some old files that lay on his desk, half keeping an eye on her just in case there was anything that he could do.
